Untimely turnovers and a late defensive lapse cost the Cal U football team in its home opener Saturday.
A 34-yard touchdown from Kutztown’s Collin DiGalbo to Jack Pilkerton with 14 seconds remaining was the difference as the Golden Bears left Adamson Stadium with a 35-28 win over the Vulcans (1-1).
DiGalbo found Pilkerton over the middle and the receiver slipped through a tackler and went into the end zone untouched on the play.
The score came just over two minutes after the Vulcans scored the game-tying touchdown on a Nelson Brown 7-yard run.
