David A. Turcheck, 73, of Rostraver Township, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2019. Born in Brownsville, on July 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Joseph and Amelia Keli Turcheck. David was a 1964 graduate of Frazier High School, where he was valedictorian. He was the top student in his Honors Engineering Class of 1968 at Penn State University. In 1971, David received his master’s degree in nuclear science from Carnegie Mellon University. He retired after 38 years as a senior engineer from Bechtel Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. He was a member of the former Holy Spirit Church in Fayette City and was currently a member of the Church of St. Anne. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity and a proud member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife, Marianne (Lucy) Turcheck; children, Rebecca (Christopher) Reeb, Paul Giles and Casey (Madeline) Giles, all of Rostraver Township; grandson, Maverick Reeb; brother, Dr. Joseph E. Turcheck of Reston, Va.; and niece, Anya Turcheck of New York City, N.Y. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Turcheck. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne with the Rev. David J. Nazimek presiding. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
