Robert S. ‘Big Z’ Zanardelli – Belle Vernon, formerly of Roscoe

Robert S. “Big Z” Zanardelli, 87, of Belle Vernon and formerly of Roscoe, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at Jefferson Hospital. Born in Charleroi on July 7, 1932, he was a son of the late Bruno and Thekla Dworatzek Zanardelli.  Robert retired in 1985 from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Monessen Plant after 29 years of service and had been a member of the Army Reserves. He is survived by his wife, Lois Staup Zanardelli, three sons and two daughters-in-law; Brian Keith and Missi Zanardelli of Canonsburg, Joseph and Rosemary Rovny of Roscoe and Lewis Zanardelli of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Danielle (Michael) Sillings of Pickerington, Ohio, and Abbey, Haley and Nathan Zanardelli, all of Canonsburg; a great-granddaughter, Emma Marie Sillings; and a sister, Janice Zimmerman of Charleroi. Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Ann Zanardelli, in February 1984. There will be no public visitation. Private entombment at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
