Negotiations are continuing between the Elizabeth Forward School District and PA Coach Lines, with no disruption in bus transportation expected.
The school district and bus company met in negotiations Wednesday with Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Christine Ward. Ward issued an injunction in August ordering PA Coach Lines to provide bus service for the first three weeks of school.
“We believe the judge is going to extend that,” said John Rushford, the district’s solicitor.
The district expects to learn Thursday the terms of the new order.
“We have not reached a deal, but we are working on setting up further negotiating sessions,” Rushford said.
The board met in executive session until approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday for litigation and personnel matters before launching into the committee-of-the-whole meeting. Transportation was not discussed.
“We were with Judge Ward today but until we have the order, we can’t talk about it,” said Superintendent Dr. Todd Keruskin.
The bus company told the district shortly before school began it would not provide transportation this year because there was not an agreement in place. The district contended the board had approved a contract extension at the October 2018 meeting.
