Two elementary students in the Elizabeth Forward School District were taken to a hospital Monday after receiving burns during their bus ride to school.
Forward Township Police Chief Travis Stoffer said there was a fluid leak on the bus that created the hazardous situation. There were 43 children on the bus when the incident occurred.
“The bus company didn’t notify the police or EMS,” Stoffer said. “The school sent the children to the hospital.”
Stoffer said the bus was taking students to William Penn Elementary School at the time of the incident. Forward Township police are looking into the accident and have contacted state police for further investigation of the bus and its maintenance records.
Transportation has been a serious issue for Elizabeth Forward, which still doesn’t have a contract in place with a bus company. There was a misunderstanding between the district and PA Coach Lines over whether a contract had been finalized in October 2018, and it appeared that school was about to start last month with no buses to transport students.
