McKeesport council spent part of last week’s meeting preparing for winter by entering into snow removal contracts with Allegheny County and PennDOT, and a salt contract with Cargill, Inc., through the SHACOG Sodium Chloride Road Salt Contract.

Following a tradition of many years, council entered into an agreement with Allegheny County to remove snow from Hartman Street and Eden Park Boulevard between Fifth Avenue and Walnut Street, along with the Mc-Keesport portion of O’Neil Boulevard.

The city will be reimbursed $10,458.31 for the winter of 2019-20, $10,772.07 for 2020-21 and $11,095.23 for 2021-22.

Under a five-year agreement with PennDOT, the city will be reimbursed $52,394.21 for removing snow on 13.95 linear miles of state-owned roads in the city, which equates to 27.81 lane miles.
