Susan Mucci – New Eagle
Susan Mucci, 93, of New Eagle, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019. She was born Dec. 14, 1925, in New Eagle, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Richardson Smith. Susan was a lifetime member of the Riverview Baptist Church in New Eagle and a 50-year life member and past matron of the Order of Eastern Star Monessen No. 205. Family was Susan’s whole life. Her kitchen was the gathering place for her siblings, who would stop by daily to chat over morning coffee, as well as having the family over for dinner on Sunday’s. Since the 1950s, the family enjoyed trips to their camp in Bedford, where they loved to spend weekends and holidays. She is survived by her husband Alvin “Ziggy” Mucci with whom she celebrated 71 years of marriage on Oct. 17, 2018; daughter, Darla Bodnar of New Eagle; two sons, Alvin (Lisa) Mucci and James (Rhonda) Mucci, all of Monongahela; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Aaron) Koontz, Michelle (Keith) Woods, Antonio (Cara) Mucci, Tyler Mucci (and girlfriend, Janiel Bradley), Justin (Stephanie) Mucci, Lindsay Mucci; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley Koontz, Coulson (Payton) Koontz, Madison Woods, Bella Mia, Camilia, Lucia, Skyler, Gavin, Madeline and Austin Mucci; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Sue Mucci; son-in-law, William Bodnar; sister, Margaret “Midge” McGinty; four brothers, John “Shorty” Smith, Thomas “Popeye” Smith, Osmond “Red” Smith and James “Specky” Smith. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, with the Deacon Joseph Anders officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. The Order of Eastern Star Monessen No. 205 will hold services at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
