Monessen falls in section opener

The Monessen Greyhounds would have liked a better start to their section season after dropping an 8-2 decision at home to Bishop Canevin.

Jack Staley netted a hat trick to lead the Crusaders (2-1, 1-0), who led 5-0 at halftime.

Cam Frolo and James Thomas were the goal scorers for the Greyhounds (0-3, 0-1).

Monessen travels to Brentwood for a section game Thursday.
