A Florida company has stepped forward with a plan to save Charleroi’s Coyle Theater weeks after a demolition permit was issued.
Mike McCarty, owner of MTI, a technology management company in Rockledge, Fla., has started a public funding campaign to support the Coyle. His effort, which can be found at www.gofundme.com by searching “Save The Coyle Theatre Project,” had raised nearly $3,000 from 20 donors through Monday evening.
In the campaign, he wrote that his company would like to purchase the theater and restore it to have live shows, screen movies and host events as a community performing arts center.
He also states that his company has been involved in saving historic buildings and theaters in the past and is hoping “to lead the charge with the help of local residents that want this building to survive for future generations.”
