Last year, Charleroi posted its biggest win of the season by blasting conference rival Washington, 64-33.
The Prexies gained revenge Friday night by scoring the final 36 points in a 42-14 victory.
“We can’t sit here and worry about inexperience,” Charleroi coach Lance Getsy said. “Our guys were ready tonight and the moment wasn’t too big for them. Our guys are fighters and I really believe good things will come for this team. They never quit out there tonight.”
Washington has won 20 of the last 22 meetings against the Cougars (0-1, 0-1) and now holds a 36-19-4 advantage in a series that dates back to 1912.
“Every season is different and you really can’t focus on what happened last season,” Wash High coach Mike Bosnic said. “The kids probably talked about what happened last year and it was a big loss for us. The kids definitely remembered and they really wanted to get the W tonight.”
