The owner of Rhythm House Studios in Charleroi will open the facility to the public for the first time this weekend.

Bob Arthurs II, who also serves as executive producer, will welcome six area artists to the stage for the first-ever songwriter’s night on Sunday.

Rhythm House Studios is tucked away inside a 115-year-old building at 406 Fallowfield Ave. Arthurs said the studio is in the business of “sprinkling pixie dust” on the talents of area artists by creating a unique and authentic sound that closely resembles classics of the 1950s and ’60s.

Arthurs bought the building in 1978, when Sounds and Strings, a music shop, called it home.

Before being transformed into a different type of music hub, it also housed the area magistrate for nearly 30 years.

“I thought for a while about what to do with it after the magistrate relocated and around 2008 decided it was time to build my recording studio,” Arthurs said.
