Monessen head coach Mike Blainefield was pretty adamant when he said his Greyhounds were going to win Class A’s Tri-County South Conference.
The march to a conference crown begins tonight and the first step is California.
The Trojans come into Memorial Stadium fresh off their first win over rival Beth-Center in a long time, while the Greyhounds nearly rallied past Greensburg Central Catholic before falling just short 21-18.
“That was our first time going full speed with the pads on against another team. What I was really happy with is how our guys followed the game all the way through,” Blainefield said. “Our guys didn’t leave the field the whole game and they’re getting acclimated to that. It’s important for them to see it and do it, rather than us telling them over and over.”
