Cougars set to battle Prexies

It’s been nearly a year since Charleroi and Washington last met on the football field.

The Cougars toppled the Prexies, 64-33, for the first time in 10 years and ended Wash High’s lengthy 39-game regular season winning streak, one that dated back to 2013.

Charleroi will look to make it two wins in a row over its Century Conference foe when the two teams go head to head tonight for the first time since that late August night in 2018.

However, coming away with yet another upset victory won’t be a simple task for the mighty Cougars.

“I think our kids are excited and fired up,” Charleroi head coach Lance Getsy said. “They’re looking forward to the challenge, but it’s going to be a tall challenge. We have a lot of guys with little game experience, so it’s going to be a challenge to get those guys up to par. Wash High has a lot of guys returning that have a lot of game experience and I think that’s an advantage for them.”
