Charleroi ponders flex schedule

The Charleroi Area School District will take a “wait and see” approach before applying for flexible instruction days.
Gov. Tom Wolf signed a bill in July that could change how and if schools use snow days.
The measure will allow school districts to implement “flexible instruction days” so students can continue to learn when inclement weather or other emergencies prevent them from getting to school.
Schools would still be expected to build make-up days into their school calendars, but could use the FIDs during hazardous weather, a law enforcement emergency, inoperability of buses or other equipment necessary to school operation or building damage.
