BVA’s Caldwell hoping summer success stays during fall season

Belle Vernon Area has lofty hopes this season in golf as the Leopards hope to defend the section title they won a year ago.
And while BVA holds a 4-0 record after Monday’s match against Ringgold at Rolling Green Golf Course, at least one of the Leps has already had a big taste of success on the links this summer.
Senior Jake Caldwell, the No. 1 player for coach Melvin Gouker’s Leopards, was named Player of the Year in two prestigious junior tours, the Isaly’s Junior Golf Tour (sponsored by Tri-State PGA) and the Southwest PA Junior Golf Tour (SPJGT).
Caldwell led each tour in total points as he finished first in several tournaments and placed in the top four in most of the events he played in.
