Greensburg Central Catholic head coach Bret Colbert picked up his first win last night, but only after his team held off a late Monessen rally.
“I’m just part of this,” Colbert said after the Centurions’ 21-18 victory. “I just had fun and I am out here having fun. Whether I am a head coach or an assistant I am just out here with these guys having fun.”
The Greyhounds struck first on Jalen Brice’s three-yard run up the middle to take a 6-0 lead with 3:35 to go in the first.
“We expect that quick offense early on,” said Monessen coach Mike Blainefield. “We expect to come out firing and today it was nice to have contact with a different team. We expected to be up early I just knew we had to get that hold and try to stay stable.”
