Alma J. Morris Hess – Monongahela

Alma J. Morris Hess, 84, of Monongahela, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 in her home. Born Aug. 1, 1935, in Donora, she was the daughter of William G. and Goldie Hamilton Morris. A graduate of Monongahela High School, Alma worked until the birth of her oldest child as an operator for the former Bell Telephone Co. in Monongahela. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Monongahela and a former member of both the Monongahela and Gallatin-Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Departments Ladies Auxiliaries. The last immediate  member of her family she is survived by her husband, William N. Hess, who she married June 25,1955, two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Sharon Hess of Monessen and John and Leslie Hess of Monongahela; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Newman of Monongahela; five grandchildren, DJ (Kelsey) Newman of Monongahela, Ryan Hess of Monessen, Brandan Newman of Monongahela, Alexandria and Adam Hess of Monongahela; two great-grandchildren, Ariebella and Arryana Newman of Monongahela, and sister-in-law, Donna Parks of Monongahela; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Paul (Viola) Morris, William and Therese Morris and Ronald Morris. At the family’s request services will be held at a later date.
