South Allegheny unveils ‘Portrait of a Graduate’ plan

For more than a year, South Allegheny School District officials have been working on a “Portrait of a Graduate,” a district vision to improve student education and equip them with skills for a successful future.
During a board meeting Wednesday, the goals for the project, including visual traits and descriptors, were approved.
Superintendent Dr. Lisa Duval said South Allegheny needed to set goals, but also see where the district was lacking.
“We have a problem with attendance,” she said.
At the kindergarten level, 107 out of 120 students missed a total of 1,543 days of school.
