Pedestrian killed by train in Charleroi

A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Tuesday night in Charleroi, according to reports from first responders.
Police, fire and EMS officials were called to the area of Seventh Street and Railroad Way for a report of a resident who had been struck by a train around 10 p.m. after the operator of a radio car reported an unconscious person to Washington County 911.
The Charleroi Volunteer Fire Department rescue squad, Charleroi Regional Police and Mon Valley Emergency Medical Services responded immediately, and a person was found unconscious at the scene.
Fire Chief Robert Whiten Jr. requested air medical standby within minutes, but was the unit was told to stand down just as quickly.
