When Belle Vernon Area High School students head back to school next week they will be greeted by new leadership.

Last month, the board voted to hire Dr. Michael Sable as high school principal. At Monday’s meeting, the board unanimously voted to accept the resignation of Assistant Principal Tiffany Gratchic and in a separate motion voted to promote Heath Curran to the position of assistant high school principal.

Curran, a 2006 BVA graduate, said he is “excited” to take on the new position, and that he will work closely with Sable to “progress the Belle Vernon Area School District into the future.”

Curran will be paid $75,000 for the 2019-20 school year. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Point Park University and a master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania. For the past five years, he has served as an English teacher at the high school.
