Charleroi looks to get a handle on its finances

Charleroi council is considering hiring an accountant.
During Wednesday’s meeting, Denise Nusida of Fallowfield Township presented a proposal to officials about the services she could offer the borough.
Nusida anticipates the work would take about three months and cost about $5,000, but it would get the borough on track and up to date with its billing system.
Nusida said she works with many municipalities to take a hard look at the numbers and ensure things are running as smoothly as possible.
The borough, which is in the beginning stages of the Early Intervention Program, could use the help.
