Iona ‘Onie’ Misher – Fairhope

Iona “Onie” Misher, 84, of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at the Concordia Hospice of Washington Donnell House. Born in Fairhope on Aug. 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Ava Roley Dorcon. A lifelong resident of Fairhope, Iona was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and the former Holy Spirit Church in Fayette City. Iona was a member of the Naomi Club Ladies Auxiliary and worked at Zelenski’s Bridal Shoppe for 10 years until her illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Misher Jr., on June 22, 2001; a sister, Margaret “Skippy” Tencer in 2008; and a son-in-law, Harry “Baker” Downer in 2005. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Teresa “Terry” Downer, Mary “Margie” and Robert Yonash and a son, Stephen Misher, with whom she made her home, all of Fairhope; six grandchildren, Jody Downer, Rebecca (Jesse) Wheatley, Douglas Downer, Anthony Misher, Melissa (Solomon) Adams and Zachary (Chelsea) Yonash; along with six great-grandchildren and one on the way. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A blessing will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with Father Michael Crookston as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
