Golf event to benefit K-9 unit in McKeesport

There’s still time to sign up for a golf outing that will benefit the McKeesport K-9 unit.
The event will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at Westwood Golf Club in West Mifflin to raise money for dog food, training, equipment, safety features for the unit’s vehicles, veterinarian bills and new vehicles that will be needed in the future.
The department has four patrol and narcotics dogs.
“The dogs not only work in the McKeesport area, they also travel to neighboring communities,” event organizer Nichole Angert said. “They perform various searches and community events.”
