Tigers looking for offensive push

The McKeesport boys soccer program is experiencing growth both on and off the field. After graduating just three seniors in 2018, head coach Steve Pambacas has 10 returning players for 2019.

Each kid brings another year of experience that Pambacas says will prove to be valuable.

“Well I think it is just the experience that we are gaining back,” said Pambacas. “Any time we can rally around experience it is a big thing for us. Just the fact that the kids have been around my program for four years, it is going to be less stressful on me to make sure that higher caliber of player is able to put one foot in front of the other.”

Despite going (2-22, 0-12) in Section 4-3A play last year Pambacas has seen growth from his young team. He says he’d rather focus more on individual growth rather than harping on overall results.

“To be honest that’s always the story for our program,” said Pambacas. “The record tells the growth of the team. Our kids pick up the game later then most, so our measurement of success is different from many other people. Other people look at the record whereas I look more at the individual growth.”
