Rostraver residents gathered for a public hearing Wednesday during the township’s monthly meeting concerning new zoning regulations that affect Collinsburg, Lynnwood, Pricedale, Van Meter and Webster.
The meeting was held at the Rostraver Central Volunteer Fire Department as an alternative to the township building to better accommodate the anticipated attendance size and also to access a screen and projector where a slide show presentation concerning the zoning was introduced.
Commissioners officially proposed the measure in early February, though Commissioner Chairman Devin DeRienzo said Commissioner Raymond Iacoboni suggested the ordinance changes several years ago in an attempt to mitigate issues with setbacks concerning property restrictions.
Known as the Village Residential District Ordinance, the passed measure will modify the township’s zoning requirements for the aforementioned smaller communities. DeRienzo said in an earlier interview with the Mon Valley Independent that these new zoning measures would allow residents to make changes to their land in a more efficient way.
He said it takes time and money to appear in front of a zoning hearing board to address each detail, and this new Village Residential District Ordinance will allow for more efficient access to making those alterations.
