The Ringgold girls soccer team missed making the playoffs last season by one game. Things didn’t get better in the offseason as the head coach resigned and tragedy hit.
First-year head coach Matt Wagner resigned after a 5-10-1, 5-6-1 season. Then in June, Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel was killed with another teen by a lightning strike at Mammoth Park in Westmoreland County.
Rosensteel was a 2018 Rams’ captain and was set to continue her academic and athletic career at West Virginia Wesleyan College on a soccer scholarship.
Rams alumnus Olivia Wilkerson was hired as head coach in February to steady the ship and get the team back to the playoffs while overcoming some early adversity.
