The spray park at Round Hill Park in Elizabeth Township will remain closed until Wednesday for additional treatment and cleaning.
On Friday, Allegheny County Parks and the Allegheny County Health Department announced the park would be closed until at least Monday after bacteria levels exceeding health department regulations were found in the water.
Early Monday, the county announced that the planned opening date has been moved to Wednesday “out of an abundance of caution.”
Water in the spray parks is tested every two hours for chlorine, pH and hard water levels, and weekly for bacterial levels, according to ACHD spokesman Ryan Scarpino.
Testing from July 29 in Round Hill Park, received Friday by ACHD, showed levels of coliform that were higher than the standard (one colony forming unit per 100ml of water).
