Monthly vendor fairs to kick off in Donora

Much like the “Jelly of the Month Club” that was given to Clark Griswold in the popular movie “Christmas Vacation,” Larry Price is the gift that keeps on giving to Donora.
Unlike the jelly club, the gifts that Price brings to his hometown have proven to be extremely valuable and worthwhile.
On the heels of the overwhelming success his Ringgold, Donora, Monongahela and Mon Valley Catholic All-Class Reunion, Price has another project he is bringing to the borough.
“We’re going to have a monthly vendors fair,” Price said. “It’s going to be totally free of charge for all vendors. The idea is not about the money, it’s to bring people together in the community for fellowship and to enjoy themselves.
“(With the reunion) we have started to build that pride again in the community,” he said. “I want to build on that momentum and keep drawing people and good publicity to Donora.”
The vendor fairs will be held the third Friday of the month from 4 to 8 p.m. at the top floor of the parking garage at Sixth Street and McKean Avenue near the clock. The first one is set for Aug. 15.
“Listen, I don’t want to make any money,” Price said. “If you are a vendor or a good cook or a barbecue person and you want to make some money selling your food, come on down. It’s free. All you have to do is set up and then clean up when you are done. Vendors will make money, people will have a reason to come into town and it is a win-win for everybody.”
