Allegheny County Health Department heard a mixed bag of sentiments Tuesday about its draft settlement agreement with U.S. Steel.
The draft was released June 28 and comes as a result of several 2018 pollution infractions at Clairton Coke Works, which carried into 2019.
ACHD Bureau of Environmental Health Deputy Director Jim Kelly and Jayme Graham, head of the ACHD Air Quality Program, were at the Clairton Municipal Building along with members of Allegheny County Council for a public hearing to listen to comments from Mon Valley residents, elected officials, steelworkers, Mon Valley Works plant managers and air quality and environmental activists about the draft.
Clairton Coke Works is part of the Mon Valley Works, which also includes Edgar Thompson Plant in Braddock and the Irvin Plant in West Mifflin.
