Monessen offers plan update

Monessen’s Comprehensive Plan is moving full speed ahead.
As part of the implementation of the Early Intervention Program, which was completed in 2017, the city was awarded a $90,000 grant through the state Department of Community and Economic Development to implement the comprehensive plan, which is intended to guide public policy and decision making.
The city was responsible for providing a $10,000 match.
During a business meeting Monday, council updated residents on progress so far.
According to a Mackin Engineering report, in addition to compiling public input, a Blight Inventory and Mapping Project has since been completed by Westmoreland County.
