Game one of the Fayette County Baseball League series between Mitch’s Bail Bonds and Mill Run didn’t go as the All-American’s were hoping as they lost, 7-2, to the Millers at Veteran’s Field in Charleroi Thursday night.
Mill Run, the No. 3 seed, jumped all over Mitch’s starter Gage Clark, scoring seven runs in the first three innings. The 7-0 deficit was too much for the home team to fight back from as they could only scratch out single runs in the third and forth innings.
“Give credit to Mill Run, they came out hitting,” said Mitch’s assistant coach Jason Greene, who was running the squad in place of head doach and FCBL commissioner Ryan Encapera. “(Mitch’s catcher Matt Sabatini) said that Clark wasn’t throwing bad pitches, just that Mill Run was hitting everything in the zone.”
The Millers (14-6) put up two runs in the first on consecutive one-out singles by Cade Warrick, Kris Firestone and Nolan Porterfield followed by a wild pitch. They tacked on a run in the second and then put the game away with a four-spot in the third.
