Just a week ago it looked like Belle Vernon Dairy Queen was down and out of the Grebb League playoff push, but they were able to pull out a 44-34 win over second-place Cedarbrook, giving them three straight gritty wins to lock up the fourth and final playoff spot Wednesday at the Mechanic Street Playground in California.
Much of the reason why the BVDQ squad was able to maneuver their way into the playoff mix was the return of Beth-Center point guard Olivia Greco. She led the way for BVDQ with 15 points and dished out several assists, including a few to her high school teammate, Anna Sloan. Sloan chipped in 13 points for the winners.
The duo did an excellent job at playing an inside-out game, something BVDQ lacked most of the year.
