MVAA sends local dancers to summer workshop

The Mon Valley Academy for the Arts is helping two area dancers perfect their talents.

MVAA president Mark Smith said the group is branching into the world of dance by sponsoring two area members of the Kishel-Roberts Dance Company, formerly known as Shirley Dean Dance Company, to attend a summer workshop at Point Park University in Pittsburgh.

Shyla Molish, 15, and Leah Stein, 16, both of Charleroi, started the workshop Monday.

Both dancers placed in the advanced classes for ballet, jazz and modern.
