Rams, ’Hounds making noise in girls division

When Janine Vertacnik and Lindsy Muchnock were hired last year, each knew they were faced with the tall task of rebuilding the girls basketball programs at Monessen and Ringgold, respectively.
Both coaches are now entering their second seasons at their schools and are coming off seasons that saw their teams out of the playoffs.
“We definitely had some highs and lows as a team, it was a rollercoaster year. We had a ton of injuries and unfortunately, we didn’t have one game were we had all of our starters together,” said Muchnock, whose Ringgold team finished 5-16 overall and 3-11 in Section 3-4A.
“I did see some progression as the season went on and we were in games with teams that really beat us at the beginning of the season.”
