Mitch’s Bail Bonds jumped out to an early lead and then used some big hits to stay in front of host Mill Run and pick up a 9-5 win in Fayette County Baseball League action Thursday.

Mitch’s (13-4) took a five-run lead in the first inning, getting a pair of home runs later on to solidify its position at second in the standings with one game to go in the regular season. Mill Run (12-5) will finish in third place heading into the postseason.

“We knew it was going to be a tough one. We got those five in the first inning, and that kind of helped out,” Mitch’s manager Ryan Encapera said. “That helped us settle in and gave us a little wiggle room.”

Mitch’s took advantage of the Millers’ struggles early, loading the bases on a hit batsman and a pair of walks. Derek Gaisbauer singled to drive in T.J. Lux, and Cole Yeager walked Matt Tarabek home. Then, Isaac Echard unloaded a three-run triple down the third-base line, bringing in Josh Brammell, Gaisbauer and Yeager for the 5-0 lead.
