BVA set to host annual Gold Bowl

The Belle Vernon Area football team is set to host the fifth annual Gold Bowl early Saturday morning at James Weir Stadium.

The former Pyrex Bowl, featuring exclusively Mon Valley teams, has evolved and is now hosted solely by BVA and features teams outside of the Valley due to scheduling conflicts.

“We’ve been trying to get the Mon Valley schools, but sometimes its hard for everyone to commit to it. That’s understandable. Other teams have other obligations.

Joining the host Leopards this year will be Connellsville, Frazier, Burrell, Yough, Southmoreland and BVA’s “B” team, mostly junior-varsity players.
