Dolores ‘Doe’ Mascara – Charleroi

Dolores “Doe” Mascara, 86, of Charleroi, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Born on Oct. 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helene Biscoe Mendola. She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church and had worked at The Charleroi Mail after high school. She was an alumna of California State College, where she graduated first in her class, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed piloting airplanes and she traveled the world with her husband. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family. Doe is survived by her son, Jon Mascara and wife Jill of Belle Vernon; daughter-in-law, Lisa (T.J. Gentile) Mascara of Cannonsburg; grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Mascara, Kylie (Arun) Gupta, and their son, Ari, and Mariah, Jameson and Sam Mascara; sister, Bonnie Rizzuto of California State; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, U.S. Rep. Frank R. Mascara, in 2011; son, Judge Mark E. Mascara, in 2010; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Jean Mendola; sister, Shirley Valla; and brother-in law, Ed Rizzuto. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, followed by entombment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
