Campy’s got revenge on Tri-County Realty in a late-night matchup between the top teams in the Grebb League’s boys division Thursday at Mechanic Street Playground.
The 58-56 win managed to pull Campy’s into a tie at the top of the standings and gave it a much-needed win heading into the last week of Grebb action.
Belle Vernon Area’s Tommy Hepple and Mitch Pohlot led the way inside for Campy’s as they combined to score 34 in an unusual low-scoring game for the team. The pair were two of three players to have double-doubles as they each ripped down 10 rebounds. The third player in double figures was Thoams Jefferson’s Ethan Dunsey, who finished with 10 points and 10 boards.
“We have the size and when our guys utilize their advantage they can do some damage on teams. We were concentrating all night long at getting it inside and exposing the mismatches,” said Naz Victoria, Campy’s head coach. “We have four guys that are 6–3 or better and we’re by far the biggest team in the league. Last time they went small and we weren’t able to match up. We did some stupid stuff but overall I’m happy with the win.”
