Home demolished in Glassport

By Mon Valley Independent

Glassport Councilman David Kowalski said a property at the corner of Monongahela Avenue and Fifth Street has been demolished, but it had nothing to do with recent media coverage.

“It wasn’t taken down because it was on the news,” he said. “It was taken down for the safety of our residents.”

Council president Elaina Skiba said demolition was being planned before the house was featured on local news stations.

“Just because we aren’t on Facebook saying what we are doing, doesn’t mean we aren’t doing anything,” Skiba said. “There are a lot of things we are doing behind the scenes. We had been working towards resolving the situation before it was ever on the news.”
