C. Harper Auto Group and Wish FM honored 50 randomly selected local high school juniors and seniors with top grades Tuesday, but only one received the grand prize: a new car.

Jessica Pendrick, 18, a recent graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School, took home the 2019 lightning blue Ford Ecosport. Additional prizes were given to the other students, drawn from high schools such as Ringgold, McKeesport Area and Bethel Park. Event organizers randomly selected the 50 students from the pool of applicants, all of whom had to have only A’s and B’s on their report cards.

The students and their families gathered Tuesday afternoon for the two-hour event. They got sandwiches and french fries from a Primanti Bros. food truck, spun a wheel to win prizes, took pictures and had some celebratory cake before organizers drew names.

“We give back so much to the community, it was a no-brainer for us to do it,” Casey Harper Jr. said. “That’s a big part of our mission statement, is to give back as much as we can.”
