BeeGraphix kept its playoff hopes alive by handing Tri-County Realty its first loss of the year, 67-54, in J. Budd Grebb Memorial Summer Basketball League play Thursday night at California Middle School.
The high scoring tandem of Joe Caruso and Nate English combined to score 47 points, with 24 and 23, respectively. The duo is familiar with converting big shots and each knocked down several late 3-pointers to seal BeeGraphix’s upset.
“We started out the game pretty good. We went on a nice little run, we were up 17 and just kept hitting shots,” said English, who dished out several sweet assists to go along with his high scoring output. “Joey (Caruso) came up big for us on the offensive and defensive end tonight and Nick (Werderberger) hit a lot of big shots, and he’s getting better every game. I just think we did a really good job at playing defense and rebounding, so we just need to keep this up for the rest of the season.”
