Carmichaels extended its division lead over Mitch’s Bail Bonds with a decisive 11-5 victory in Fayette County League play Monday.

The visiting Copperheads (12-1) scored four runs in each of the first two innings to give starting pitcher Joe Sabolek all the run-support he would need.

Sabolek, a 2018 Belle Vernon graduate and Waynesburg University product, scattered six hits over his four innings of work with five strikeouts and two walks.

“Joe hasn’t pitched in over two weeks due to a rainout and the holiday,” said Carmichaels manager Richard Krause. “But he was gritty and did a good job on a night when he didn’t have his best stuff.”
