Mitch’s Bail Bonds and Dom Costellic handled business of the first game of a doubleheader against AMD Industries Sunday afternoon at California’s Malden Yards in Fayette County Baseball League action.
An early seven-run first inning was plenty of support for Costellic as the Penn-Trafford product tossed his second no-hitter of the summer in giving Mitch’s an easy 10-0 victory in five innings.
Costellic was masterful, carrying a perfect game into the fourth until he hit a batter. He struck out nine of the 16 batters he faced and only gave up soft contact the entire day.
“I can’t say enough about him,” said Mitch’s manager Ryan Encapera. “It was just easy for him; he threw a lot of strikes and he would have had that perfect game if he hadn’t hit that guy in the fourth. He kept the ball down, he was in and out, he was just great, and that was actually the second one he’s thrown this summer. He’s been pitching really well and I’m excited for him. He’s pumped up, too.”
