After receiving complaints from several Mon Valley citizens and area environmental organizations, Allegheny County Health Department announced Friday that a public hearing will be held to receive citizen comments regarding the department’s draft settlement agreement with U.S. Steel.

The draft of the settlement was released last week and comes as a result of several pollution infractions at Clairton Coke Works in 2018, which carried into 2019.

The hearing is slated for 6 p.m. July 30 at the Clairton Municipal Building, located at 551 Ravensburgh Blvd.

During the public hearing, Mon Valley residents who live in one of the more than 30 communities that surround the Mon Valley Works will be allowed to make verbal comments that will be entered into the record.
