McKeesport renames street in honor of Jimmy Beaumont

Jimmy Beaumont of Mc-Keesport, a renowned area musician who was the front man of The Skyliners doo wop band, unexpectedly died nearly two years ago.

Residents of the city have been grieving ever since, said Mayor Michael Cherepko, especially those who regularly attend McKeesport Lions Club Summer Concert Series shows at Renziehausen Park and oldies dances at the Palisades event center.

“Jimmy Beaumont is one of those famous people from McKeesport that we are truly proud of,” Cherepko said. “Jimmy Beaumont, the Skyliners and their music are known around the country and around the world. We are proud of that and we are proud that he and his wonderful family are real examples of people who take pride in our city.”

At Tuesday’s council meeting, Cherepko announced that the city is planning to honor Beaumont’s memory “in a big way.”
