Joy Riders want the disabled to experience the thrill of cycling

For many, learning to ride a bike is a glorious childhood rite of passage. It means wind blowing through your hair, the feeling of flying and the liberation of youthful independence.
For those with mobility disabilities or limitations, independence is hard to come by.
That joyful feeling is what Smithton resident Karen Primm wants to make happen for the Joy Riders’ bicycling event on Tuesday.
“This isn’t about hard exercise,” Primm said. “This is about just pure joy.”
