Nearly 416,000 older homeowners, renters and people with disabilities across the state will be issued 2018 rebates this week.

The Department of Revenue said rebates totaling roughly $196 million, distributed through the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, will be distributed.

Revenue Secretary Dan Hassell said more than 500,000 people benefitted from the program in 2017, and this year the program deadline was extended.

“The department also recently extended this year’s application deadline to Dec. 31 so that applicants have more time to apply for rebates on property taxes and rent paid in 2018,” Hassell said. “We encourage everyone who is eligible to take advantage of the program.”
