Irene Sendek, 90, of Monessen, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born on Oct. 13, 1928, in Monessen, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Pushkar Makey. Mrs. Sendek was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a graduate of Monessen High School. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and a former member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Church and its Christian Mothers. Mrs. Sendek was a devout Catholic and prayed the Rosary every day. She was retired from PLCB, where she worked as a salesclerk. She is survived by a son, Alan (Pam) Sendek of Perryopolis; a daughter, Karen Sendek of Monessen; four grandchildren, Ryan (Linda) Sendek of Missouri, Erica (Neil) Lyn of Florida, Christopher Ostetrico of Texas and Jennifer (William) Livingston of California; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Adah Livingston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Sendek; a son, Mark Sendek; a daughter, Christine Zemko; two sisters, Helen Tesley and Anna Mazur; and by her brother, Emil Makey. Friends will be received in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019. Services will be held beginning with a 9 a.m. blessing in the funeral home Saturday, July 6, 2019, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen. Condolences are being accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
