Before getting down to business during Tuesday’s meeting, Charleroi Area School Board directors and administrators took a few moments to honor two men who are making a difference in the lives of students.

District resident Terry Planton, a graduate of Charleroi High School, has been working with the district for months to secure money for safety.

Last month, the district announced it received a  $521,498 grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

As of Tuesday, that funding has officially been released.

Planton, business manager Crystal Clark and the Charleroi Area administrative team collaborated to apply for a two-part grant last fall.
