A lot to cheer about during spring

By Mon Valley Independent

Finally, summer is here in the Mon Valley. The hot and humid weather seems to have descended upon us, signaling the hottest season’s arrival.

But for us here in the sports department, the spring was undoubtedly our hottest season of the year. Fitting that it capped off another successful high school sports year around the Valley.

There were so many great stories, teams and players, all around the Mon Valley. Speaking for myself and Jose Negron, we have to give a shout out to all those coaches and players who took time for interviews before and after games and just taking the time to call or email in game information. Without you, we couldn’t continue to put out the product we do on a daily basis. So thank you.

Thank you to the writers who have joined or always been a part of Team MVI for helping to fill our pages every day. Jeff Oliver, Jeremy Tepper, Ashley Chase, Dean Dellamalva, Zack Zeigler, Joe Sabolek and Dan Palm, without this group we couldn’t fill our pages with sports stories of OUR teams, OUR schools, OUR players and OUR region.

As always, our writing wouldn’t be much without the view from behind the lenses of photographers Jenn Codeluppi, Ben Bamford, Mike Darnay, Ashley Chase, Tony Pinneri and Bob Smith.
